Yamaya’s Story

 

Yamaya Mason is a beauty, fashion, and lifestyle content creator from Los Angeles, CA. With Maya, you can expect makeup reviews, try-on hauls, and exploring new places all while maintaining a healthly lifestyle.

In late 2019, Maya, formerly known as “Maya’s Makeup” went through a brand transformation.

She shed the “makeup” title from her name in order to brand herself as more of a lifestyle expert. In doing so, she was able to open her content and audience up to various engaging topics.

Because of TIL, I am able to make monthly goals so that I am able to pay off a portion of my rent with the income that I have made. In between $700-$900.

DISCOVERING “THE LEAGUE”

Yamaya became familiar with The League after joining the very first course. For 6 weeks, Maya tuned into each session to learn about influencer branding, social media growth, monetization, and brand deals. Once the class ended, Maya continued to seek counsel from TIL. Her goal was to improve the quality of content she gave to her audience, land brand deals, and grow on social media. 

THE CHALLENGE

Maya’s biggest challenge was not having an engaged audience, as well as a lack of guidance in how to build strong relationships with brands. 

THE SOLUTION

To begin, we started with an Instagram audit for Maya to discover what type of content her audience likes the most. Once that happened, she was able to begin creating more content that was similar. As a result, she saw drastic changes with her engagement. We also covered hashtag strategies, different methods of monetization, building a brand both online, and IRL, influencer networks, and more. 

THE PROGRESS

With consisent work, a rebrand, website launch, and a new midset that’s effective and business and goal-oriented Maya is seeing steady growth, as well as paid brand deals, and the necessary skillset to build relationships with well-known brands. 

My biggest brand deals so far was with a toothpaste brand. It happened very suddenly and I was up for the challenge. This brand deal tested me in how fast I can create content, and how serious I am about being a content creator.

Khadijah’s Story

Khadijah Lacey-Taylor, AKA “Miss Lacey,” is an everyday life and style influencer residing in Dallas, TX.

In 2019, she decided to dive head-first into her passion, and now she’s able to share her journey and connect her with her audience on a more personal level through fashion and lifestyle.

Khadijah’s high-quality photos and videos & her editing style are what sets her apart from the rest.

In less than 6 months, I have almost doubled my story views, engagement rates are above average for nano-influencers, I’ve gone viral and gained over 500 followers since the birth of my brand.

DISCOVERING “THE LEAGUE”

When Khadijah first set out on her influencer journey, her goal was to learn the ins and outs of the influencer marketing industry, to help grow her audience and land brand deals.

THE CHALLENGE

The biggest challenge facing Khadjiah was growing her audience, and landing brand deals. Initially, she did not know where to start. To her, being an influencer meant approaching this work as if she were starting a small business. This led her to create a plan.

THE SOLUTION

When creating her plan, Khadijah decided to focus on authenticity as her core value. The game plan was to continue to create quality content, establish a strong hashtag strategy, and engage with her target audience and their content. She also began learning how to properly and effectively pitch to brands. Playing up her strengths as a new nano influencer, and as well as crafting an engaging concept for the brands, along with email etiquette went a long way.

THE PROGRESS

In less than 6 months, Khadijah’s following has grown, and with less than 4K followers, she has been able to secure $1,000 from paid campaigns.

Courtney’s Story

Courtney Williams is #BlendedFamily goals. Her rise up the Millennial Mom Influencer ranks began a couple of years ago.

A Houston native, she is known for her on point “Mommy and Me” fashion. Courtney has built a lifestyle brand centered around all things family, motherhood, blended family life, fashion, and faith.

She prides herself on sharing her journey from single motherhood to navigating blended family life, and everything in between, very candidly and transparently.

Courtney has stated she is grateful that her platform has allowed her to show women around the world that just because unexpected twists and turns come up in life, it doesn’t mean you can’t have everything, and MORE, out of life that you’ve ever imagined.

Discovering “The League”

When Courtney first started working with TIL the goal was to make more money. But we built a foundation on building a solid brand, which will provide a ROI in multiple ways. 

The Challenge

Courtney was experiencing not knowing how to navigate the world of working with large nation-wide retailers/brands, contract negotiating, and being confident enough to ask my worth.

The Solution

We started off with making a weekly goal list that consisted of personal goals to better leverage her brand and also business goals such as weekly pitching to brands as well. We helped negotiate contracts, learn how to pitch brands, and learn how to be confident to ask her worth, but also backup her asking rate with appropriately explaining her value to brands.

The Progress 

Follower Growth – When I first started working with TIL I believe I was around the 30k range in followers and now have grown to a whopping 86k followers. She helped me recognize not only the importance of consistency with my content but putting out quality content as well.

Brand Deals – My biggest brand deal to date since working with TIL was my very 1st 5-figure, long-term contract that also included an all expense paid brand trip as well. Definitely the highlight of my influencing career so far.

I can’t say enough great things about TIL and how truly life changing working with them has been. They have a heart for influencers of color and us truly knowing our value and worth and not being afraid to ask for it.
